Leveraging Seasonal Healthcare Trends for RWJBarnabas Health
The R&J healthcare team understands the value in leveraging timely topics to pitch and promote RWJBarnabas Health and their doctors as leaders in the healthcare field. Each change of season comes with fresh opportunities to focus on seasonal health concerns and with the “bomb-cyclone” snow storm bearing down on the state, we saw that as an opportunity to focus on snow removal and cold weather safety tips. We pitched two doctors from two separate RWJBarnabas Health facilities, Saint Barnabas Medical Center and Community Medical Center, to share some important cold weather safety tips.
We were able to successfully set up an interview for Vikram M. Varma, MD, MBA, FACEP, Chair of the Emergency Department at Community Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility to speak with Fios1 New Jersey on identifying the signs and symptoms of frostbite and hypothermia as well as tips for preventing cold injury. The pitch also resulted in a piece by Dr. Varma placed in The Asbury Park Press.
We also successfully coordinated an interview for Sabino M. Torre, M.D., Interventional Cardiologist from Saint Barnabas Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, with WMBC to discuss the health risks of snow shoveling and the increased risk of heart attack associated with snow removal. Dr. Torre’s interview with WMBC will air 6PM Saturday, January 20, during their “Hometown” show broadcast.
The R&J healthcare team was able to leverage New Jersey’s first major snowstorm of the year into an opportunity to further position our client as experts in the healthcare field and to connect with media and audiences in engaging ways. These placements show how the R&J healthcare team quickly creates additional PR opportunities through trending news stories.
